QAML · SANCTIONS, PEP AND ADVERSE-MEDIA SCREENING
Know who you are dealing with before you onboard, sign or pay.
QAML screens people and companies against the sanctions lists the regulators publish, the US export-control lists, politically exposed persons in India and the US, and the news in eight languages. Every possible match becomes a case, and a reviewer closes it with the evidence on file.
The one-pager is on docs.quoqo.com.
What every screening checks
The regulators' own lists
- OFAC SDN and consolidated (non-SDN)
- UN Security Council
- EU financial sanctions
- UK Sanctions List
- India MHA (UAPA)
- US export controls: the Entity List, Denied Persons, Unverified and Military End-User lists, ITAR debarments and nonproliferation sanctions
Each screening records the version of every list it used. If a list is out of date, the screening says it is incomplete. It is never passed.
India and the US in depth, and the rest of the world
- Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members, current and former
- Members of state legislatures
- Supreme Court and High Court judges
- In the US: members of Congress, federal judges and state legislators
- Heads of state, ministers, legislators and other senior office holders elsewhere
A confirmed PEP raises the customer's risk and starts enhanced due diligence. It never rejects them on its own. Former office holders are kept with their dates.
The news, in the languages it is written in
English, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Gujarati and Kannada.
Each article is assessed for whether it is about your subject and how serious it is. Likely, serious coverage opens a case. Customers under monitoring are re-checked every week, and a search that could not run is shown as not checked, never as clear.
From a possible match to a decision on file
- Screen a customer, a company, a distributor or both sides of a transfer, in the app or through the API.
- Review. Each possible match opens a case with the listed entry beside your subject, field by field.
- Decide. The reviewer records a decision and the evidence. You can require a second reviewer to close.
- Keep the file: a PDF report, an append-only case history, and monitoring that re-screens customers as the lists change.
A match is a possible match, not an identification. A person decides.
